Hey there fellow Primary Ed. friends and Welcome to my Wiki!
I'm Chantel Mirzai and I thought I'd dedicate my page to teachers in popular culture. Truth be told when I'm not directly studying to be a teacher, I'm thinking about teaching, talking about teaching or yes...you guessed it watching movies about our glorious chosen profession. (Side note: I do some other stuff as well :D). As a result of this I've compiled some images, videos and quotes from some of my favourite movies for you to enjoy. Even though most of these films are often exaggerated, unrealistic or overly cheesy it's amazing how the feel-good flicks can truly inspire you on the days when assignments are piling up and it all just feels a little too overwhelming, can give you great ideas that you can't wait to try with your own class or even remind you of what kind of teacher you DON'T won't to be e.g. Ms. Trunchbull. So break out the popcorn, dim the lights and enjoy!!!

MovieQuotes
A selection of my favourite quotes by sensational teachers in movies. I'll try to add to this list throughout the semester. Click on the movie titles below to find out more courtesy of The Internet Movie Database [IMDb] Movie: Dead Poets Society
John Keating: Now we all have a great need for acceptance, but you must trust that your beliefs are unique, your own, even though others may think them odd or unpopular, even though the herd may go, [imitating a goat] "that's baaaaad." Robert Frost said, "Two roads diverged in the wood and I, I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference."
Ron Clark:The problem isn't the kids. It's not even what they can achieve. The problem is what you expect them to achieve. You are setting the bar here. Why? Set it up here! They can make it.
Principal Jacobs:A teacher has two jobs; fill young minds with knowledge, yes, but more important, give those minds a compass so that that knowledge doesn't go to waste.
Gabe:We were just discussing testing. Which test do you find most effective, the TASS or the Wilson-Binet? Dewey: I say no testing , and I will tell you why, Joe. Gabe:Gabe. Dewey:Gabe. I believe... That the children are the future. Now listen, you can teach them well, but buddy, you have got to let them lead the way. And let the children's laughter...just remind us of how we used to be. That's what I decided long ago. Bob:Isn't that a song? Dewey: No, uh, I don't think so. No, no it isn't. Bob:Are you sure? Dewey: No, uh, I don't think so. It's not.
